I've decided to play around on DA some more and try to steal Dad's camera back off my brothers (who have nice digitals now). I've put up a print here to test stuff but myself and Hugh should be playing around a little at ~theblueprintmachine so take a look at our stuff as it goes up (if it goes up) and see what you think.

Peace,

Sorry

Tue Feb 12, 2008, 11:19 PM
Today in Australia the government apologized to the stolen generations, over 100 000 people forcibly removed from their families in the last century, often never seeing parents and siblings again and destroying their knowledge of language and land, two important aspects of indigenous life.

Some people might not know what this is about, others don't agree, but here on this journal i want to just make my apology known. it wont do much but its the least i can do today.

I say sorry for the taking of indigenous land, the assumption of terra nullius and the taking of indigenous children from communities which were carried out against the wishes of the indigenous people by fellow Australians.

In the last 220 or so year, indigenous people have suffered the most inhumane treatment by white Australians and for this i have deep regret and am sorry for.

I hope that the future holds a new growth of understanding and compassion between indigenous and non indigenous Australians so we may finally move forward tot eh benefit of all.

Nanna Nungala Fejo - "Families, keeping them together is very important, it's a good thing that you are surrounded by love and that love is passed down the generations - that's what gives you happiness.''

This quote, sums up what today is about for me.

Remember it, apply it to your life and in compassion to the lives of others.

pursue happiness

Today, plastered all over the news has been the saga of Paul Wolfowitz, the president of the World Bank and former mastermind of the war on Iraq.

He's part of a scandal about a pay package and promotion for his "companion" Shaha Riza, a middle east expert for the World Bank.

Wolfowitz has pleaded for his job before the World Bank council who are strongly considering sacking him, while the US administration meddles in the entire affair backing up Wolfowitz saying that he should KEEP his job after making a massive conflict of interest.

Article (The Age.com)

Thats one of many sites you can go to to read about this article.

Now to ME, it seems like he should know better and that he doesn't deserve a second chance. He's the president of the massive World Bank and he shouldn't have done this and he deserves to be fired!

However, i digress, that is my opinion, i am here to inform you of this issue and, if you feel as strongly about the injustice as i do, give you an avenue to make a difference here. If you don't care strongly enough about it, thats ok :D thanks for reading!

So if you'd like to sign the petition to sack Paul Wolfowitz head over to

The Petition

and have your say!

You might also like to look at the World Bank website at

And contact them directly or contact your local member of parliament and see what they can do about this.

Was going to post this as a deviation but felt it might not be right, might still post it at a later date if i get good feedback here. As the title suggests this is a possible series (if i can be bothered/creative enough) of random philosophical statements written on discarded post it notes as a fragmentary record of my life/times/moods/mind/philosophy.

So as the first installment I present:
On Discarded Post it Notes 1: Mussing on life, choices and the human spirit by James Donaldson 2007

There comes a point in every persons life,
where they must either take a deep breath and dive in,
or run away from it all forever.

That time is now....

Breathe Deep.

Not very good perhaps but I like the sentiment myself. Constructive criticism is always welcome as are any other comments you may have. I like a good philosophical chat now and again :).

Keep smiling all, fight the good fight,

~Vastiel
